Finding forgiveness and peace in the midst of tragedy

He was pastor of a Christian college church; the highest ranking chaplain in the navy. Darold Bigger, husband and minister. He was proud of his daughter, living a continent away, starting her own ministry life. But nothing prepared him for the most heartbreaking phone call of his life…

We don’t know exactly what happened. His daughter was brutally killed in her apartment. Faced with grief—and all the emotions of a child being brutally taken—Darold and his wife Barbara entered into an amazing story of forgiveness.

Hear Darold & Barbara tell their amazing story of grief and forgiveness from one of life’s hardest challenges. From their story you’ll learn how to forgive and find peace even in the middle of crisis, relational pain, and the horrors of life.

In this three-part series, hear the amazing testimony of Darold and Barbara Bigger and how God lead them through this tragedy.

Part 1: Coping with tragedy (7 p.m. Friday, May 11)
Human tragedy has shattered the faith of many. When their daughter was murdered their lives crumbled and their faith shook. In this session, Darold and Barbara share what happened to them during the aftermath of Shannon’s murder.

Part 2: Hope for then and now (10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12)
Where was God when Shannon was murdered? Where was He when this tragedy happened? Where is He when pain, suffering, and misery demoralize and devastate us? Not finding adequate answers to wrenching questions about God’s direction and authority have left many mistrusting God or doubting that He exists at all. During this session, Darold and Barbara share what restored hope for them, hope for the present, and hope for the future.

Part 3: What we learned from inmate #263818 (1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 12)
Many religions advocate forgiveness and share some similar ideas on how to make it work. Christianity presents quite a different approach. This story describes how forgiveness worked for them.

There will be a children’s program for ages 0-12 during each session.

A free lunch will be served following session 2.

Unique: The Adventure

We are all created unique. Ok, but what does that mean for me? How did God create me? Who am I? How do I fit in this big plan? For that matter, what has God called me to in The Experience? That’s what Unique: The Adventure is all about. Starting January 27, we join together on this journey. Each weekend we’ll be putting another mile behind us as we learn how God has created us, how God intends for us to work together. Then, right after lunch we’ll process together in smaller groups – this will be some of the nuts and bolts time. We’ll also kick off SuperTuesdays for the new year on January 30. During that time we’ll be focusing on spiritual gifts in ways you’ve probably never seen them and their impact on your life. It’s Unique: The Adventure!

McCall retreat THIS WEEKEND!

Just a reminder that we’ll be in McCall this weekend, January 19-21, and won’t be meeting at our normal location. If you’re interested in joining us for the weekend or for the day, please contact Michelle Yeager at moc.oohaynull@aeyellehc for more details.

Christmas festivities at the Experience

Christmas is coming, and we’re big on Christmas at the Experience! Here’s what’s happening…

We’re getting together at 10:27 a.m. on Saturday, December 23 for our regular worship service… but it won’t be regular! First, we’re going to have a special breakfast together; bring something yummy to share! We won’t have lunch together (because realistically, most of us will still be stuffed silly from breakfast).

Then Saturday evening at 6:00, we’ll have our annual No Talent show. Join us for a fun night of amusement, and (you guessed it) more food. Bring snacks and your lack of talent… we’ll meet you there!
